Madrid February 2026

Madrid

My wife and I visited Madrid for a short break from 25 February to 1 March 2026. It was a lovely trip and a great chance to enjoy a city full of history, charm, and beautiful architecture. Madrid has a wonderful atmosphere, with its elegant buildings, wide avenues, historic squares, and lively streets all giving the city a special character. The weather was excellent throughout our stay, with sunshine every day and temperatures of around 20°C. It felt warm and pleasant in the sun, although there was still a slight chill in the shade. During our visit, we also enjoyed trying vino tinto de verano, a popular Spanish drink served cold and slightly sweet. It was perfect for the weather and quickly became one of those small holiday pleasures that you remember afterwards – perhaps a little too well, as we both came back with sore throats. Madrid's public transport was another big plus. It was reliable, affordable, and very easy to use, with excellent links across the city and to the airport. That made exploring simple and stress-free, which is exactly what you want on a short city break. Overall, Madrid was a fantastic destination for a few days away – stylish, welcoming, full of history, and very enjoyable to discover. It definitely left us wondering where our next trip should be.
